season 2 submission guidelines

we seek stories, poems, and critical works that place femininity first: works that embrace intuition, resist closure, and challenge convention.

this does not mean only female writers writing female characters. we are open to reading low fantasy, utopian and dystopian science fiction, alternate history, and horror, but will consider any story within the broad genre of speculative fiction and feminist critique as long as it gives us something to contemplate.

we are drawn to writing that attends to grief, marginalization, and care. we want work that recognizes vulnerability as a form of knowledge and tenderness as a mode of resistance.

vh is also looking to publish essays, art, and multimedia projects on aesthetic qualities that support the journal’s mission. we want our readers to explore the realm of the eternal-feminine through literature and art, even if it’s only for an hour.

we will not accept any submissions with gratuitous sex or violence. we require any submission which addresses difficult or traumatizing topics come with an appropriate trigger warning for our editors. if accepted, the editors will provide the appropriate tw to readers.

we will not accept improperly formatted work. please revise your work for major grammatical errors prior to submitting. simultaneous submissions are fine, but please e-mail us if your work is accepted elsewhere.

all submissions should be sent to venushourlitmag@gmail.com.
